Israel Prejean was the son of Valmond Prejean and Marie Azelie Begnaud and Elmire Duhon was the daughter of Vileor Duhon and Elvira Foreman. The grandmother of Tomie Petijean, mayor of Rayne, was born in this house. She was Mary Prejean, wife of Dave Petijean a resident of Rayne.

There were four houses down from the Prejean residences which was then Hub City Motors, the Ford dealership. Hub City Motors was on the corner of Washington Street and Vermilion Street which is where the present Federal Courthouse is located
